Kagiso Rabada Becomes The Fastest Bowler to Reach 300 Test Wickets: South African speedster Kagiso Rabada attained new heights in his Test career as he became the quickest bowler, in terms of balls taken, to take 300 Test wickets. The 29-year-old fast bowler became only the sixth South African bowler to snare 300 Test scalps.
Rabada achieved this feat during the ongoing 1st Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka, where the hosts elected to bat first but the decision backfired as they got bundled out for only 106 runs. Rabada took three wickets in his spell of 11 overs, in which he conceded 26 runs and bowled four maidens.
South Africa’s spearhead pacer, Rabada, got to the 300-wicket milestone by blasting the stumps of veteran Bangladeshi keeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. He uprooted Rahim’s off and middle stumps with a searing delivery.
Rabada set Rahim up nicely: he bowled an away-moving delivery before sending down one that seamed in. It was a good length ball that nipped back sharply into Rahim who prodded forward for a defensive push. The ball seamed in on pitching and crashed through the bat-pad gap of Rahim’s, knocking down the off and middle stumps.
Rahim was left stunned seeing the mess that were his stumps now, while Rabada screamed in elation with his teammates hugging him one by one and congratulating on his historic achievements.
In terms of balls taken, Rabada is the fastest to 300 Test wickets, and the third-fastest South Africa in terms of matches played to get to this figure.
