Jude Bellingham Reacts to the Mbappe Penalty Miss: Real Madrid fell at Anfield in front of Liverpool for 2 goals to nil in the UEFA Champions League match on Thursday, November 28.
Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gapko found the nets for the home side in the second half, and Real Madrid could complete only 3 shots on target in the whole match.
Real Madrid, who came to play without their star forwards Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, had Brahim Diaz and Arda Güler to replace them in the playing XI. The major absentees at the defense, including the 2024 Ballon d’Or finalist Dani Carvajal, cost the mighty Whites a crucial 3 points in the UCL.
Alexis Mac Allister put the Reds in front in the 52nd minute, but soon after, Madrid’s new Galactico signing Kylian Mbappe had the chance to equalize from the spot. But Kylian’s kick toward the right side of the goalpost was stopped by the Liverpool goalie Caoimhin Kelleher.
Mbappé, who has been struggling to find form after signing with the Spanish giants, made it even worse by missing the penalty. Amid criticism from the fans and the media, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham backed the Frenchman.

Talking to TNT Sports after the match, Bellingham said that Mbappe is holding a lot of pressure on his shoulder, and he is not the reason Real Madrid have lost the game.
“It’s [Mbappe’s penalty] a big moment in the game but it can happen. He’s a wonderful player but the pressure that he holds because of how good he is is huge. The penalty is not the reason why we lost the game. As a collective we weren’t good enough on the night, they performed better than us and it’s as simple as that. Kylian can keep his head high, I know for sure that he will produce many more moments that are huge for this club,” said Bellingham.
Real Madrid are at 24 on the table with just 6 points from 5 games and made their situation in the UCL even worse with the loss. Going ahead, they will have to win every game to book a seat in the last 16.
