Jos Buttler on Shubman Gill: Gujarat Titans star Jos Buttler called his skipper Shubman Gill the Poster Boy of India in the future. The Englishman joined GT this season after getting released from Rajasthan Royals.
Buttler praised the cricketer and passion in Shubhman Gill and called him a star. He was talking in an exclusive interview with Cricbuzz
“Look, Shubman is a star, isn’t he? He is going to be the poster boy of Indian cricket. I think he is a fantastic player. I have really enjoyed it. I think one of the great things with the IPL is that I have played against these guys. But now I get to watch him up close and be on my team. I really like watching him practise and learning things about how he goes about it.”
Butler also lauded India’s vice captain for the leadership skills he possesses.
“He has led the team brilliantly. He has got a nice relationship with the whole team. And he and the coach get on well. And yeah, he has got that passion on the field which I love and also a clear, calm head. So he is doing a fantastic job as leader.”
Butler also commented about the change in IPL since last season, especially after the Impack Player Rule came in.
“The intent looks very high from the batters. But the opportunity to have the Impact Player makes a big difference. The first few games I was thinking, wow, I’m going to have to be the same and really attack from ball one and try and get big scores. But in the last eight or nine games, I don’t think anyone has scored 200 (KKR scored exactly 200 vs SRH on Thursday). So it’s always evolving. Cricket is a good leveller and you must respect the game.
