Jasprit Bumrah On The Toughest Batsman He Faced: Plenty of confidence exuded in the answer Jasprit Bumrah gave when asked about the toughest batsman he’s bowled to. Known for his elite skillet and calm temperament that have made most pundits hail him as the best fast bowler in the world, Bumrah reckons he doesn’t allow any batsman to get into his head.
Bumrah has been on fire in all three formats since his return from back surgery last year. He has produced terrific spells since last year’s World Cup and has been on song across conditions.
He picked up 20 wickets in the World Cup 2023 at an economy of 4.06. He was then the Man of the Series in the two-test series in South Africa before taking 19 wickets at an average of 16 in the home Test series against England.
In the IPL 2024, he snared 20 wickets, the third-most in the competition, at an economy of 6.48. His form got even better during the T20 World Cup 2024, where he took 15 wickets, the third-most, at an economy of only 4.17. Bumrah bagged the Man of the Tournament award at the T20 World Cup for his stunning bowling performances throughout the tournament.
I Don’t Want Anyone to Take Over Me in My Head: Jasprit Bumrah On The Toughest Batsman He Faced
Bumrah recently attended an event in Chennai, where he was asked if he encountered any batsman who was very tough to bowl to. The India fast bowler gave a measured answer and once again showed his astuteness.
Bumrah said,
“Look, I want to give a good answer, but the real factor is that I don’t want anyone to take over me in my head because obviously I respect everyone, but in my head, I tell myself that if I do my job well, there’s nobody in the world who can stop me.”
“So I look at myself rather than the opponent, so if I think that I have control over everything and if I give myself the best opportunity, everything else will take care of itself rather than giving the power to the batsman that he’ll get the better of me and he’s better than me, so that I don’t want to.”
Bumrah has been on a rest since the T20 World Cup. He missed the Sri Lanka tour and was rested from the upcoming Duleep Trophy as well. Bumrah could make his comeback with the test series against Bangladesh.
