Jasprit Bumrah Addresses His Doubters: Indian ace-pacer Jasprit Bumrah, after a brilliant performance against Pakistan, has called out the people who doubted him.
India took on Pakistan in Match 19 of the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The Men in Green won the toss and decided to bowl first.
On a difficult New York pitch, India looked in cruise control until the 12th over, before the whole team collapsed and was all out for 119.
In response, Pakistan maintained the run-a-all-run rate throughout the match, but wickets at crucial junctures and tight bowling by India led the Men in Blue to a six-run victory in what was one of the most nail-biting encounters in tournament history.

The hero of the match for India was Jasprit Bumrah, whose spell of 3/14 made him the Player of the Match. Not only did he take the most important wickets in the match, but he also kept the Pakistan batters in fear of the moving ball.
Bumrah, who is arguably the best bowler in the world at the moment, has had a lot of struggles with injury throughout his career. In a span between 2021 and 2023, the 30-year-old was out of action for the majority of the time.
Jasprit Bumrah Addresses His Doubters
After the match-winning performance against Pakistan, Bumrah mentioned how fans and experts doubted him about a year ago. In the post-match conference, he had this to say:
“Yeah, see, a year ago, the same people were saying that I might not play again and my career is over, and then now the question changed.”
The right-arm pacer then went on to say that he does not focus too much on what people have to say about him. His focus is just on performing his best and controlling the controllable.
“But I don’t look at that. For me, I am not looking at it; I am bowling at the best of my ability. I try to solve the problem that is there in front of me and try to control the controllables. I know it’s a cliche answer that everybody just comes and says, yeah, we try to stick to the processes and try to control the control levels,” said Bumrah.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah has taken five wickets in two games at an economy of 2.85 and an average of 4.0.
As for India, they are at the top of Group A with four points in two matches and a net run rate of 1.455, followed by the USA with the same points in as many matches but with a lower net run rate.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is fourth in the group with zero wins in two matches. It is highly likely that the 2022 runner-ups will not even make it out of the group stage.
