James Anderson On Kohli Missing Tests Vs Eng: After first being out of the squad for the first two Tests, it was announced mid-way through the ongoing five-match series between India and England that Virat Kohli would not be playing the whole series. English star pacer James Anderson has now commented on his team’s perspective on Kohli’s absence.
We now know that Virat chose to not play in the series due to the birth of his son, Akaay. While the former Indian captain celebrates the birth of his second child, team India is celebrating an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.
After a surprising loss in the 1st Test of the series in Hyderabad, the hosts bounced back with three consecutive wins in Vizag, Rajkot, and Ranchi. The Men in Blue have seen several players step up in Kohli’s absence, who has scored two double-centuries in the series so far and has scored the joint-most runs scored by an Indian in a Test series against England with a match to spare.
But despite some stellar performances during the last three Tests, India will always miss Virat Kohli whenever he is not a part of the squad.

James Anderson, who has not had the best series against India so far, discussed how it’s a shame that he did not get to bowl to Kohl during this series in a recent interview with Jio Cinema, he said –
“Yeah, you always want to play against the best players. And it’s been a shame that he’s not been a part of the series. We have had some great battles over the years. But not just for me, I think as a team you want to play against the best in the world and he certainly is that.”
He continued –
“I guess English fans will be thankful he’s not playing because he’s such a quality player. But from our point of view, you want to test yourself, you want to come up against the best and he’s been someone who I’ve found really challenging to bowl at over the years and it’s a shame he’s not been playing.”
In Test cricket, Virat Kohli and James Anderson have had several fascinating battles. While Jimmy gave Kohi a tough time during India’s 2014 tour to England, Virat has had an upper hand in the rivalry since.
Virat Kohli has scored 305 runs against James Anderson, where the batting maestro has been dismissed 7 times and has an average of 43.6.
