Jake Fraser McGurk Scores Fastest 50 In IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals explosive batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has equaled his record of the fastest 50 scored in IPL 2024 in the ongoing match against Mumbai Indians.
DC are taking on MI in Match 43 of IPL 2024 in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The visitors won the toss and decided to bowl first. This decision immediately backfired as the Capitals started slogging from the first over itself.
With David Warner still unavailable, DC sent fellow Aussie Jake Fraser-McGurk to open, which they have been doing for a few matches now. Abhishek Porel was sent to open with the 22-year-old.
The pitch has no grass on it and looks very hard and flat. The lowest score in Delhi this season is 199, and the pitch doesn’t seem to be any different.
Right from the first over, JFM looked to tear the ball apart. DC scored 37 runs in the first two overs and 69 in four. In just 16 balls, the Capitals had already reached the 50-run mark. This is the joint-fastest opening in IPL history.
The fourth over saw Piyush Chawla come into the attack. McGurk, who was on 46, then hit a massive six to bring up his half-century in just 15 balls.
This is the joint-fastest 50 in IPL 2024. It was Fraser McGurk himself who scored a 15-ball-50 earlier this season against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

But the milestone did not stop the Aussie slogger, who continued to make MI regret their decision to bowl first. At one point in the seventh over, he was at 78 runs in just 24 balls and was very close to breaking the seemingly unbreakable record in IPL of the fastest century in just 30 balls, made by Chris Gayle in his iconic 175* inning in 2011.
At the end of seven, DC was at 113/0. But the very next over saw Chawla get McGurk, who once again tried to hit a six but was caught at long-on.
His inning ended at 84 in 27 balls, so close to the record for the fastest IPL ton. But he did score the joint-fourth fastest IPL 50 today and gave his side an amazing start.
As of now, Delhi Capitals have breached the 200-run mark at the end of 17 overs, as we are looking at another possible 250+ score in IPL 2024.
