Ishan Kishan Ton Leads Jharkhand To Win VHT: Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scored a big ton as he led Jharkhand to a massive win in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) is India’s top-level one-day domestic cricket tournament where teams from different states and government departments play in 50-over-a-side List A matches.

Jharkhand took on Manipur in a VHT Group A match at the Dr Soni Stadium in Jaipur. Manipur won the toss and decided to bat first. The opening partnership took the team past the 50-run mark. After the second wicket fell quickly, the third-wicket partnership was worth 84 runs.
Manipur slowly but steadily kept on ticking the scoreboard. A late flourish by the lower order meant that their 50-over inning ended at 253/7.
With a target of 254, Utkarsh Singh and captain Ishan Kishan walked in to bat for Jharkhand. This opening partnership was brilliant. While Utkarsh played the supporting role, Kishan took charge and scored runs quickly, keeping the run rate in the 8-9 rpo range.
By the time Ishan was dismissed, he had scored 134 off 78, while the opening partnership had put together 196 runs in 23 overs. The two openers had all but won the match for their side.
Utkarsh Singh was dismissed soon after, for 68 off 64. Kumar Kushagra and Anukul Roy then took their side home in the 29th over, chasing down a 250+ target with over 20 overs remaining.
For his efforts, captain Ishan was named the Player of the Match. Apart from scoring all these runs, he also took a catch in this match.
Ishan, who has been out of the Indian Cricket Team for some time now. Doing well in the VHT is a way for him to return to Team India. As for Jharkhand, they have won both of their matches in Group A so far.
With the VHT being looked upon as a proving ground for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Kishan’s stellar performance in this match is sure to be seen as a fantastic audition for the keeper-batter for the national team.
