Ishan Kishan Disobeys Head Coach Rahul Dravid: It looks like Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has openly disobeyed the instruction of national team head coach Rahul Dravid by remaining unavailable for a selection into the Jharkhand Ranji Team.
Kishan took a break due to mental fatigue from the tight schedule of Indian national team cricket last month. Last week, he was seen partying in Dubai, sparking discussion about his place in the team. His appearance in the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) also sparked some row last month.
With the competition for the wicket-keeper role in the national team being ever-intense, the 25-year-old might find himself low down on the totem pole.

With Ishan not having played any cricket in over a month, Rahul Dravid has made it clear that he will not walk right back into the national side. In a recent comment, the head coach said that Ishan Kishan will have to make himself available for Ranji Trophy selection if he is to find his way back into the Indian cricket team.
“Ishan Kishan will have to play domestic cricket first to return to the Indian team. He will have to make himself available and then compete in a Ranji Trophy contest before playing for India,” said Dravid in a recent media appearance.

However, it seems like Kishan has not heeded Rahul Dravid’s words as he has still not made himself available to play for the Jharkhand Ranji Team. The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Debashish Chakraborty has come out and said that they have not heard any confirmation from Kishan’s side and that the Mumbai Indians player will walk right into the state’s Ranji squad whenever he wants, saying –
“We don’t have any information about him. However, he will walk straight into the Playing XI whenever he tells us.”
It looks like Ishan Kishan will have to fight for his place on the national side. He most likely wouldn’t be part of the team for the upcoming England tour. But his eyes, and of those competing with him for a spot in the side, will be on the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the US, which is less than six months away.
