Their underwhelming season last year was down to a lot of factors. Firstly, they missed their regular captain Rishabh Pant due to his horrific car crash the year before. Their incumbent skipper Davi Warner, though he scored runs, did so at a lethargic pace throughout the tournament. They also showed their inability to string together multiple good performances.
The Capitals have added a lot of ammunition to their squad for the 2024 season. Coupled with the return of Rushabh Pant, Delhi Capitals will not only look to make their way into the playoffs but also win the IPL for the first time in their history.

1) Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant’s fitness has been the elephant in the room for the Delhi Capitals. The wicketkeeper-batsman underwent a brutal car accident in December 2022. He suffered several injuries in the accident and some consider him lucky that he is getting back to playing condition ahead of IPL 2024.
One of the most eye-catching batters in world cricket, Pant had been an integral part of not only the Capitals but also the Indian national team. Now part of the squad for the 2024 season of the IPL, Rishabh will also retain the side’s captaincy, which was handed to David Warner in his absence.
The 26-year-old has an average of 24.61 and a strike rate of almost 148 in the IPL. His performances as the anchor of the DC batting line-up were integral in the side’s resurgence around the turn of the decade, which saw DC make it to the playoffs for three seasons in a row, even making it to the final in 2020.

2) Harry Brook
Harry Brook is one of the most highly regarded batting talents in world cricket. The 24-year-old has been an integral part of the English side across all formats. One of the cleanest strikers of the ball today, Brook will play his second season of the IPL in 2024.
Bought for an arm and a leg in 2023 by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Brook failed to fire for the franchise. Despite scoring a scintillating ton, he scored just 190 runs in 11 matches last season.
While he was supposed to be part of England’s ongoing tour against India, Brook pulled out a couple of weeks before the tour commenced due to personal reasons. However, he is expected to travel to India to participate in the IPL.
While he has yet to truly shine in limited-overs cricket, especially in T20Is for his national side, Harry has had a dream start to his Test cricket career, having scored over 1100 runs in just 20 innings. He has also shown how absolutely brutal he can be with the bat in franchise cricket around the world. He will now look to set the IPL on fire.

3) Ishant Sharma
After years of irrelevance in the IPL Ishant Sharma came roaring back into form at the start of IPL 2023. One of the very few bright sparks in an otherwise incredibly dull season for the Capitals, Sharma took 10 wickets in 8 matches with an average of 20.6 and an awesome strike rate of 15.
An elderly statesman of Indian cricket, the Delhi native is certainly in the twilight of his long and successful career. While he may struggle to find playing time for DC this season, Ishant Sharma will be hungry to prove himself at the biggest stage possible.
