IPL 2024 Auction Capped Players Sold: Despite having one of the smallest purses coming into the IPL 2024 Auction, Rajasthan Royals went big with the first name coming out of the hat as Rovman Powell is now a Royal for Rs. 7.40 Crore.
The first lot of the IPL 2024 Auction, taking place in the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, was named ‘Capped Batsman 1’. 7 Batters, including 5 foreign and 2 Indian-capped batters, were part of this lot.

The biggest buyout of all these was also the first player in the Auction, Rovman Powell. The other names sold from this lot were – Australian World Cup final hero Travis Head, and English batting sensation Harry Brook.
A bidding battle broke out for Head as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings looked interested in the Aussie. But it was the Sunrisers who came away with the services for Travis Head for Rs. 6.80 Crore.
Another marquee buy from this lot was Harry Brook, who was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, and was taken in by Delhi Capitals for Rs. 4 Crore.
There were also big names from this lot who went unsold, the most prominent of them being former Australia and Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith, whose base price of Rs. 2 Crore was not met by any of the 10 teams in the auction.
Other players who went unsold (for now) from this lot were – South African Rilee Rossouw, and experienced Indian talents, Karun Nair and Manish Pandey.
