Despite being ill, he batted for the Mumbai Indians against the Rest of India and scored 36 runs off 59 balls on Day 2 of the match.
His innings was decorated by four boundaries and a six, which helped Mumbai cross 500 runs in the first innings. The batter stopped the play multiple times and was checked by the medical staff while he was batting.

According to Indian Express, Shadhul Thakur underwent tests for malaria and dengue and is awaiting the results. The player will stay at the hospital till the results come out, a source told Indian Express.
“He was unwell and had a high fever throughout the day. This was the reason why he batted late in the innings. Shardul Thakur slept in the dressing room after taking medicine. He wanted to bat, and we got his blood test done for malaria and dengue. The results are awaited. Till then, he will remain at the hospital.”
