India vs England Test 5 Day 2 Review: After batting for the whole day against England, India has built up an impressive lead against England.
It was Day 2 of the fifth and final Test of the ongoing series between India and England at the beautiful HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, and the hosts capitalized on the momentum they built on the first day.
India vs England Test 5 Day 2 Review
The day started with India at 135/1. On Day 1, England won the toss and decided to bat first. They were cruising at the start but then collapsed like they have frequently done throughout the series. The English innings was ended at 218.
India was 77 runs behind at the start of the day and quickly brought the score to level. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill batted throughout the first session, both reaching their 100s.

Quickly into the 2nd session, both Sharma and Gill lost their wickets. While Rohit was bowled by a magnificent ball from his captain counterpart Ben Stokes for 103, Shubman was bowled by James Anderson for 110.
It was then the young duo of Devdutt Paddikal and Sarfaraz Khan that stabilised the innings. Paddikal was making his Test debut. India was 279/3 when the two’s partnership started.
The two youngsters hit their 50s as we went into the 3rd session, on the first ball of which Sarfaraz was dismissed by Shoaib Bashir.
After Paddikal was also dismissed, India was 403/5. The batting collapsed a little from this point as wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel was out for 15, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 15 as well, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who is playing his 100th Test match, was bowled for a duck.
With about 20 overs left in the day, India was 428/8. But from this point, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav held it together. The two showed a masterclass in tail-order batting, doing not-out at the end of the day having played 55 balls each.
At stumps, India’s score was 473/8 as the hosts have amassed a massive 255-run lead. Shoaib Bashir took 3 wickets on the day and has 4 wickets in this innings.
