India vs England 4th Test Match Report: India suffer a mini-collapse in the morning before Gill, Jurel stabalist the chase
Despite India needing 152 runs at the start of the day, with all 10 wickets in hand, after Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal had cracked 40 quick runs, the match still remained hung in balance. And that was proven soon in the morning session.
First, Yashasvi Jaiswal got out to Joe Root once again. The left-hander tried to loft Root over cover, but a thick edge flew to James Anderson at short thirdman. Rohit Sharma, after reaching his half-century, had a lapse in concentration, and missed a delivery from Tom Hartley after skipping down the pitch, and got stumped.

Shockwaves and anxiousness ran through the Indian fans when the hosts lost three more quick wickets. Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan were caught at leg slip by Pope off Shoaib Bashir’s bowling before Ravindra Jadeja hit a full toss to Bairstow at mid-wicket.
India needed 72 more runs with 5 wickets in hand. Then, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel joined hands and formed a brilliant, unbeaten partnership that took India over the line. The pair rarely played a risky shot and looked confident in their strokes. They regularly rotated the strike with singles, and a steady passage of play transpired.

Ben Stokes made bowling and fielding changes, but Gill and Jurel remained steadfast in their approach. Jurel collected a couple of boundaries. Gill didn’t hit a single boundary in his first 119 deliveries. Only when the victory was in sight did Gill jump down and smoke a couple of sixes to bring up his fifty. Gill remained unbeaten on 52 and Jurel on 39.
This is the first Test series loss for Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum as England’s Test captain and coach. The teams now move to Dharamsala for the fifth Test. Though India have won the series, there will still be WTC points at stake.
