India Takes Lead Then Nearly Bowls Out NZ On Day 2: After taking a lead in the first inning of the ongoing Test against New Zealand, the Indian Cricket Team has now almost bundled the opposition out and are now the favourites to win this match.
Today was Day Two of the third of three India vs New Zealand Test matches. The contest is being played in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, and the Kiwis won the toss and decided to bat first.

As a recap of Day One, the BlackCaps saw the wicket of in-form opener Devon Conway early. After an almost 50-run partnership between Will Young and captain Tom Latham, the skipper was dismissed as well. Then, before the lunch break, Rachin Ravindra was bowled as New Zealand fell to 72/3.
Then came a long partnership between Young and Daryl Mitchell. It was at a team score of 159 when Will Young got out. Wicketkeeper Tom Blundell was dismissed right after From here, a mini-collapse followed. Ravindra Jadeja completed his fifer as New Zealand was bowled out for 235.
India batted on Day One as well. Captain Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after scoring an attacking 18 off 18. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill then stabilised the inning before Jaiswal was out for 30. With an over or so remaining in the day, Mohammed Siraj was sent out as the ‘Night Watchman’ but was dismissed on the first ball. Before the end of the day’s play, Virat Kohli was run out as well, and India fell to 86/4.
Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant started Day Two with the bat and brought the team out of trouble. While both were dropped around individual scores of 50, both reached the milestone. By the time Pant got out after scoring 60 in 59, India was at 180/5. However, a mini-collapse like New Zealand was imminent.
Ravindra Jadeja scored 14 while Sarfaraz Khan was out for a duck. Then, nearing a ton, Shubman Gill was dismissed by Ajaz Patel for 90. In the late stage of the inning, Washington Sundar took charge and scored 38 off 36. India did take a lead in the first inning, a 28-run lead, scoring 263 runs.
As New Zealand came out to bat a few overs before tea, the pitch had a lot in it for spinners. Despite that, captain Rohit Sharma opened the bowling with pacer Akash Deep, who reciprocated the skipper’s trust by bowling out New Zealand captain Tom Latham in the first over.
No Kiwi batter looked too comfortable against Indian spin. Devon Conway was dismissed before tea as fell, and so did Rachin Ravindra, failing in both innings of this match. Ravindra was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. His first wicket of the match.
Then, the New Zealand wickets started bundling up. While Daryl Mitchell and Will Young again built the biggest partnership of the inning, Mitchell only managed to score 21 runs this time around, as compared to 82 in the precious inning.
While Will Young held one end as he went on to score another 50, wickets kept falling at the other end. From 44/3 to 100/5 to 150/8. On the final ball of the day, Matt Henry was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja and left the Kiwis reeling at 171/9 and with a 143-run lead.
With three days remaining in this Test, a result is imminent. Most likely, we will see this match end before tea on Day Three. And the Indian Cricket Team is now the favourite to win this match after losing the first two in this series. This has already been India’s first home Test series loss in 12 years.
