India Predicted Playing XI For 2024 T20 World Cup: While IPL 2024 is still underway, all national teams are gearing up for the biggest showcase of T20 cricket in the world, the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The tournament will commence on June 2 and will be played in the West Indies and the United States of America. Being played in seven countries and nine locations, this will be the biggest cricket world cup in history, with 20 national teams participating.
This will be the first Cricket World Cup for co-hosts the US, and the tournament is a way for the ICC to breach into the lucrative US market.
Despite 20 teams participating in the competition, it is the usual 5-6 that are outright favorites to win this one. Defending T20 champions England and defending ODI champions Australia are obvious; meanwhile, the likes of India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are also considered favorites, some more than others.
As the inaugural champions of the tournament all the way back in 2007 and one of the most high-profile teams in world cricket, India will always be considered one of the favorites going into a World Cup. Today, we will predict India’s playing XI for the majority of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
India Predicted Playing XI For 2024 T20 World Cup
Let’s start with the openers, and the choices are clear. There are only two outright openers in the team: Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma.
While Virat Kohli can open too, as he does for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, he will most likely play at No. 3 for the national side. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has been a fixture for the Indian T20 side at No. 4.
Then comes the wicketkeeper of the team, and while Sanju Samson has been in brilliant form for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, it will likely be Rishabh Pant who will play in most matches. Pant is making a comeback to the side after a year and a half due to injury, and his IPL form is an assurance that he hasn’t lost a step.
Now come the two all-rounders, and the team will likely go with the experienced duo of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Although Shivam Dube and Axar Patel have been in far better form in the IPL, Pandya, and Jadeja bring a lot of experience and the ability to perform in clutch situations with them. Also, Hardik is the vice-captain of the team and thus will play almost all matches.
With a solid spinner in Jadeja and a decent pacer in Pandya sorted, the four remaining bowlers will likely be a combination of three pacers and one spinner.
Between Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, Yadav will most likely get the nod. Not only has Kuldeep been in better form, but he has now become a three-format player for India. Not only is he one of the best leggies in the world, but he also brings some batting to the side that Chahal lacks.
As for the pace trio, India has only picked three specialist fast bowlers in the team (with an extra two in reserves). So, all three of them will play in the XI. These are Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj.
India’s predicted playing XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj
The players remaining in the squad who are not part of the predicted XI are: Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
India is in Group A of the 2024 T20 WC. They will kick off their tournament on June 5 against Ireland. Their next match will be against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9. Next comes a game against the US on June 13, before finishing the group stage against Canada on June 15.
