India Play Quick As They Hunt For A Win: India played a quickfire inning on Day Four of the second India vs Bangladesh Test match as the Men in Blue are looking for a win and whitewash the series.
This is the second Test of the two-match series and is being played in Kanpur’s Green Park. India dominated the first game in Chennai’s Chpauk Stadium, winning it by 280 runs. The hosts came into this game to win and whitewash the series.
On Day One of the game, it was the Indian Cricket Team that won the toss and decided to bat first. On that day, Bangladesh batted for 35 overs and were 107/3 when the rain started. It showered for over a day in Kanpur. This resulted in not only Day One being washed off after the 35th over, but the second day saw no cricket being played.
While it didn’t rain too much on Day Three, the ground was waterlogged, which meant there was no cricket played that day as well. So when both teams took the field at the start of Day four, everyone believed that this match would be an uninteresting draw.
And Bangladesh played that way. While Monimul Haque scored a fine ton, the team otherwise collapsed for 233. The Bangla Tigers batted throughout the first session of the day and into the second. India came into bat for the first time in the second session of the fourth day, with no result in sight other than a draw.

But when India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma took on the pitch, it was clear that the Indians had a different plan whatsoever. In three overs, India had scored 50 runs, the quickest that milestone had been reached in Test cricket.
Rohit was bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the fourth over. He scored 23 runs in 11 balls with a strike rate of 209.9, brilliant in any format of the game.
Each Indian batter that came into bat then batted like it was an ODI. Shubman Gill scored 39 off 39, Rishabh Pant didn’t waste time and scored 9 off 11, and Virat Kohli scored 47 off 35 before being bowled by Shakib Al Hasan.
At this point of the inning, India was 246/5 in 30 overs. It was clear that the team looked to set a small target for Bangladesh and try to win the game by an inning. But soon after Kohli’s wicket, the team collapsed to 285/9 in 34.4 overs. India, seeing the writing on the wall, declared the inning with a lead of 52 runs.
India’s highest run scorers were Yashhsvi Jaiswal, who scored 72 runs in 51 deliveries, and KL Rahul, who scored 68 in 43. Rohit Sharma’s men are now looking to bowl out Bangladesh quickly and chase down the target with whatever time they will have on Day Five.
