Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bat first. As the match started, India got the first knock in the fourth over. Opener KL Rahul got caught by Sam Konstas in the over of Mitchel Starc. India were at 11 and Rahul scored 4 runs.
Australia didn’t let India breathe as the visitors got the second knock 3 overs later. In the th over, in-form young gun Yashasvi Jaiswal(10/26) was caught by Webster in a stunning delivery by Boland—score 17/2.
India lost the next wicket in the 24th over when Shubhman Gill, who replaced Rohit Sharma in the Playing 11, went out for 20 runs in the ball of Natha Lyon. Star batter Virat Kohli continued his poor form, getting out in the same fashion as he did in the last match. Virat scored 17 runs and Boland got his wicket. India were at 72 losing 4 wickets at that time.
India continued tolose wickets in regular fashion and apart from Rishabh Pant, who scored 40 runs before getting caught by Cummins in a Boland delivery
Indian innings ended at 185 in 72.2 overs. Boland took 4 wickets for Australia while Mitchell Starc took 3. Captain Cummins also contributed by taking 2 key wickets.
Replying to India’s 185, Australia lost their first wicket in the very 3rd over. The things that led to that wicket are pretty dramatic. For Australia openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja were batting. Captain Bumrah had an intense exchange with the youngster Konstas at the beginning of the 3rd over. Bumrah looked furious and got the wicket of Khawaja in the last ball. The Indian star bowler then had an intense staredown with Konstas which led the Indian players to go crazy.
At the stumps, Australia are at 9 runs losing 1 wicket in 3 overs.
