India Mens Squad for 19th Asian Games Hangzhou: India has revealed the lineup for the men’s cricket team set to compete in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou from September 19 to October 8.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the captain of the Indian side for the forthcoming Asian Games T20 competition. The team comprises a group of talented young players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and Jitesh Sharma.
Since the ICC Men’s Cricket ODI World Cup is scheduled to commence in India on October 5, just two days before the conclusion of the Asian Games cricket tournament, the BCCI has made the decision to field a second-string men’s side in Hangzhou.
Six players who were part of the T20I team during the West Indies tour have been selected to stay in the squad: Jaiswal, Tilak, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan.
As per the India Mens Squad for 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, Rinku Singh, known for his strong hitting and finishing skills in the Indian Premier League, has received his first call-up, while Jitesh Sharma returns to the T20I squad after not being included in the West Indies touring party. Prabhsimran Singh has been included as an additional wicketkeeping option in the squad.

The reserve players include Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Sai Sudharsan, and the capped players Venkatesh Iyer and Deepak Hooda.
In a recent episode of The ICC Review, Ricky Ponting expressed admiration for Jaiswal and Gaikwad following their impressive performances in the Indian Premier League. Regarding Gaikwad, Ponting stated that he believes Gaikwad has the potential to become a significant Test match player or excel in all formats of the game in the coming years.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member Indian men’s cricket team and five standby players for the upcoming Asian Games 2023, set to take place in Hangzhou, China. The men’s cricket event will be played in the T20 format from September 28 to October 8 at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field.
With the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup coinciding with the Asian Games and commencing in India on October 5, the Indian team will be predominantly composed of emerging players, as key first-team regulars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be part of the Hangzhou Games.

Despite the absence of some established players, the Hangzhou-bound squad will feature several promising youngsters who have showcased their skills in the Indian Premier League. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who represents the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, will captain the Indian team at the Asian Games.

Cricket has been part of the Asian Games in previous editions, with the tournament taking place in Guangzhou in 2010 and Incheon in 2014. Bangladesh emerged victorious in the inaugural edition, while Sri Lanka clinched the title in 2014. On both occasions, Afghanistan finished as the runners-up.
