India Drops To 6th In World Test Championship: Following India’s humiliating loss by an innings and 32 runs against South Africa, the two-time finalists of the World Test Championship (WTC) have slipped to sixth in the rankings of the ongoing cycle.

After the 2023 WTC final was won by Australia, a new two-year cycle started. Most teams have not played more than a couple of matches, but early wins in a cycle put a team in a good position to be around the top of the league table.

South Africa, who played their only match of this cycle against India recently, are on top of the table with a 100% record. Then comes New Zealand with a win and a loss against Bangladesh and a 50% record. Australia rounds off the top 4 with four wins, two losses, a draw and a 50% record.
As per the India Drops To 6th In World Test Championship, Surprisingly, it is Bangladesh on fourth with a 50% record as well after trading victories against New Zealand. Pakistan are fifth in the rankings. They too have 2 wins and 2 losses, but due to a 2-point deduction due to a slow over-rate in their first Test against Australia, their current record is 45.83%.

Then comes India in sixth. The Men in Blue had won one and drew one match against the West Indies earlier this year. Now this loss against South Africa and a two-point deduction due to slow over-rate means India has a 38.89% record.
West Indies, England, and Sri Lanka are the only other nations who have played Test cricket in this cycle and are on 7th, 8th, and 9th with a 16.67%, 15%, and 0% record respectively.
India will now look to improve their record in WTC 2023-25 and will be eyeing a win against South Africa in the second and final match of their series.
