The Indian Women’s National Cricket Team defeated the South African women’s team by a whopping 10 wickets in the third and final T20I between the two sides.
South Africa’s Women’s commenced in mid-June with a three-ODI series. Then, a one-off four-day Test match was played before the two embarked on a three-T20I series.
In the three-game ODI series at the start of the tour, India whitewashed their guests, winning the first game by a shattering margin of 143 runs. In this series, Smriti Mandhana scored two consecutive 100s and scored a score of 90.
While in the one-off Test, Richa Ghosh scored the fastest Test double-ton in women’s cricket at more than a run-a-ball. 10 wickets by Deepti Sharma and another fantastic ton by Mandhana led India to a 10-wicket victory.
The India Vs South Africa T20I series did not get off to a good start for the hosts. The first T20I saw South Africa bat first and put up a solid total of 189/4 at the end of their 20 overs. In response, the Women in Blue managed to only score 177, losing the game by 12 runs.

With the second T20I being washed away, India needed to win the third one, not only to bring the series level but to end South Africa’s tour to India on a high note.
It was India that won the toss in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium and decided to bowl first on a tricky surface. While they struggled for some time, South Africa was all out at 84 in the 18th over. Only three players on the team crossed the 10-run mark.
To chase the small target down, the formidable duo of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma took to the strike and started blasting. Soon, the score started rising as India lost no wicket.
The hosts chased the target down in 10.5 overs. More importantly, they did it without losing even a single wicket. This win was propelled by a fine half-century by Smriti Mandhana and an insane four-wicket haul by Pooja Vastrakar, who gave only 13 runs in 3.1 overs and took four wickets.
