India Break Records To Beat Bangladesh By 133 Runs: The Indian Cricket Team has broken several records en route to defeating Bangladesh in the third T20I of the series. The Men in Blue have won this series in a whitewash.
India won the first two matches of this three-match series in a comprehensive manner. So even before this third India vs Bangladesh T20, the home side had won the series. Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium hosted this third and final T20I on Saturday, October 12.
India Break Records To Beat Bangladesh By 133 Runs
It was India who won the toss and decided to bat first. While Sanju Samson gave the team a fine start to the inning, his fellow opener Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket in the third over itself, ending what has been a poor series for him with the bat.
But then came captain Suryakumar Yadav, and the gears changed. He and Sanju took the Bangladesh bowlers to town, scoring 82 runs in the powerplay and then scoring at about 15 rpo.
First, Samson reached his 50 with a strike rate of over 200, then SKY did the same. The 10th over of the inning is the epitome of this Indian inning. After missing the ball on the first ball, Sanju Samson hit five sixes in a row to Rishad Hossain, most of them right over the bowler’s head.
The Rajasthan Royals captain reached his 100 in just 40 deliveries, the second-fastest T20I ton by an Indian and the highest individual score against Bangladesh in the format for India.
However, Sanju and Surya were dismissed in the 14th and 15th overs, respectively, with the skipper scoring 75 off 35. But then came to the crease Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya. The two continued. The two scored 34 and 47 runs, respectively, at a strike rate of over 260.
With the aim of scoring 300 runs in an inning still alive, India lost some quick wickets in the final two overs. However, two boundaries on the last two deliveries of the inning took the defending T20 World Champions to 297/6 in 20 overs.
This is the largest score by a Test-playing nation in T20Is and only behind the 313 scored by Nepal against Mongolia in the format. This is the kind of continuous demolition that has never before been seen on the highest level.
With almost no chance of winning the game, the Bangla Tigers looked to attack from the very first ball. However, opener Parvez Emon was dismissed by Mayank Yadav on the first ball of the inning.
Second opener Tanzid Hasan and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto could not build big innings either. At the time both of them were dismissed, Bangladesh were 59/3 in the sixth over, going at a fine pace, which was still not enough.
But then, Towzid Hridoy and wicketkeeper Liton Das stitched together a quick partnership of 50+ runs, taking the team past the 100-run mark. When Das got out, the team was at 112/4 in the 12th over.
Then came in veteran Mahmudullah, playing his last T20I match. But he could not have much impact on the game, getting out for eight in his final inning in the format.
The team collapsed from this point on. While Towzid kept his wicket at one end, the team kept losing them at the other. At the end of 20 overs, the Bangladesh score was 164/7, and they lost the game by a massive margin of 133 runs. For his brilliant ton, Sanju Samson was named the player of the match, while Hardik Pandya was named the Player of the Series.
And thus, India won all three games of this series and whitewashed Bangladesh, not only in this series but the whole tour, as they won both the Test matches played before the T20Is as well.
The India Cricket Team will now host New Zealand in a three-Test series, the first of which will be played on October 16-20 in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
