Former England captain Michael Vaughan has taken a cheap shot at the Indian cricket team, saying that the Asian giants copied England’s Bazballers during their epic innings in the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh.
Seeing that the situation demanded India to bat aggressively in their first innings at Green Park because more than two and a half days had been lost to rain and wet outfield, the Indian batters hammered 285 runs in 34.4 overs. They created the new world record of fastest team to 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs.
This explosive batting display was akin to England’s under the Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes era. However, for India, it was only a one-off innings as they batted according to the requirements of the situation since they wanted to win the match and clinch crucial World Test Championship points.
India are now copying England: Michael Vaughan
On the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Vaughan made interesting comments about India’s innings in Kanpur and that Rohit Sharma’s team copied the style of England.
“Gamball looks very similar to Bazball to me. I did notice that yesterday (Day 4 of India-Bangladesh Test) when it was happening. This is good to watch. So I tweeted ‘I see England are playing Bazball.’ It had 1.2 million views and had 2000 responses. Can you look at any legalities of this. Do England charge them for this?” Vaughan said.
“I’ve to say, this is a remarkable Test match. India went out to bat and look Indian cricket is fantastic with everything they deliver. It is great to see India now becoming Bazballers. They got 285 in 34.4 overs, so they copied England. It’s off the scale to think that India are now copying England, that is terrific.”
India will next host Bangladesh for three T20Is, and their next Test series is against New Zealand, starting October 16. After the three-Test series against the Kiwis, India will embark on a five-match Test tour of Australia.
