Jos Buttler one-handed catch: Gujarat Titans’ Jos Buttler gave another piece of evidence of his athleticism when he took a stunning one-handed catch of Delhi Capitals’ Vipraj Nigam during the GT vs DC encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Table-toppers Delhi Capitals took on the third-placed Gujarat Titans on Saturday afternoon in Ahmedabad, with the winner of the game poised to take up the top position in the points table. Heading into this clash, both teams had played six games each; DC had won five, and GT had won four.
GT skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field first. DC batters batted brilliantly and posted a total of 203 runs. Although none of the DC batsmen got a big score of even a half-century, there were several who made scores between 25 and 40, and all did it at a good rate, which allowed the side to cross the 200-run mark.
Opener Karun Nair scored 31 off 18, KL Rahul scored 28 off 14, Axar Patel scored 39 off 32, Tristan Stubbs scored 31 off 21, and Ashutosh Sharma gave DC a powerful finish with a knock of 37 off 19.
For GT, Prasidh Krishna, who is having a good season with the ball, picked up four wickets—those of Nair, Axar, Rahul, and Vipraj.
The last of those dismissals, that of Vipraj, came through a sensational one-handed catch from wicket-keeper Jos Buttler.
To a back-of-length ball from Krishna, Nigam made room for himself as he looked to carve it through the offside. However, Krishna smartly followed the ball and denied him the space he desired. With little space to work with, Nigam managed a thick outside edge behind where Buttle had to make a full-length dive to his right to grab the ball while stretching out his right hand.
It was such a jaw-dropping effort from Buttler that it made even the commentators crazy and left the fans speechless.
