Imam Ul Haq Smashes His Bat After Dismissal: Batter Imam ul Haq lost his cool and smashed a bat in the dressing room after not being able to take his team, the Lions, to win Pakistan’s ongoing one-day domestic cricket tournament, the Champions Cup.
With international cricket on a break in Pakistan, the Champions Cup is where all of the national team players are competing. This is the first edition of this List A tournament, and the five teams are not named on the basis of any region but on the name of animals.
The competition began on September 12 and will see all teams play each other once before the playoffs. The final will be played on September 29 in Faisalabad.
The most recent match in the tournament was between the Shadab Khan-captained Panthers and the Shaheen Afridi-captained Lions. It was the Panthers who won the toss, decided to bat first, and notched up 283 runs in 50 overs.

In response, the Lions lost two wickets in the second over, putting the team in a precarious position. From here, it was the responsibility of opener Imam ul Haq to steer his team towards victory.
Imam scored a fine 50. But with the team on 127/3 in the 22nd over and him being on 60, the 28-year-old batter inexplicably lost his wicket to Shadab Khan. The ball was bowled a bit away from the batter. Ul Haq looked to cut the ball away but edged, with it then going straight into the wicketkeeper’s gloves.
The Lions’ victory was in the hands of Imam. He needed to keep pulling the inning, score a brilliant century, and remain on one end of the pitch if he were to take his team to a win. But that did not happen. In fact, after this, the team collapsed, getting all out for 199 and losing the match by 84 runs.

Imam Ul Haq has been out of the Pakistan Cricket Team for some time now. While he was in the 2024 Cricket World Cup squad for the Men in Green, he was dropped from the playing XI after just six games and has not played an ODI since.
As for Tests, he played in the first two out of three in the 2023-24 tour to Australia. While he did score a half-century in the first match, he followed that with three successive failures, which resulted in him getting dropped from the team for the third match, and he has not played a Test match since.
