Ilia Topuria Hits Back At Cristiano Ronaldo: UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria seems to have Cristiano Ronaldo stay rent-free on his head. The Spaniard who recently fought former champion Max Holloway had won by knocking out his opponent.
But the things leading up to the Ronaldo-Topuria drama had happened before the fight. Ronaldo, who was present at the fight arena to watch the fight, was talking to American footballer Eric Nicksick and PFL Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou backstage. Casually discussing the fight, Ronaldo picked Max Holloway to win the fight as he said, Ilia didn’t fight top guys except under-prepared Alex Volkanovski. Ronaldo also opined that Ilia Topuria talks too much, but he will respect the champion if he beats Max.
Ronaldo’s conversation with the other two legendary sportsmen was purely private, and he wasn’t aware that it was being recorded. When the video clips were out, Ilia, who had KO’d Holloway by then, went furious and spat back.
“I didn’t expect someone like you to be unable to distinguish between confidence and arrogance. But, at the end of the day, we all reflect our own reality onto others. I wish you the best for what remains of your career, and God bless your family,” said Topuria after the fight.
Ilia Topuria Hits Back At Cristiano Ronaldo Again
Ronaldo has been silent over the issue, but it seems like Ilia still has the wounds caused by the football all-time great. In his latest interview with Cadena Cope’s El Partidazo, when he was asked about the incident, the UFC star again talked against Ronaldo, and this time, he brought up the footballer’s rival Lionel Messi, who is also in the GOAT conversation with the Portuguese.
“The one I’m going to personally invite there [in Miami] is [Lionel] Messi because he lives there, so screw Cristiano as long as Messi exists,” said Ilia.
“I didn’t understand it, to be honest. I saw the clip that came out talking about me talking too much. If Cristiano says it, something doesn’t add up to me. Cristiano always talks,” Ilia added.
