The Favourites
India
As the host nation, India are favorites to win it all in the upcoming tournament. Obviously, their best scenario is to win the World Cup. The full-strength squad has the ability to defeat any side in the world any day, especially in home conditions. The top order seems to have caught some form at the right time, with the return of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul making the side better, and pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj can demolish any batting order.

While it is entirely possible that India does not make the knockout stages, it is very difficult to imagine such a case. But with the team losing their semi-final in the past two World Cups, doing so again on their home soil would be a massive disappointment.

England
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Predictions: The defending champions are pegged by many to repeat the feat from four years ago. Since their win in the 2019 World Cup, England has won the 2022 T20 World Cup, has revolutionized Test Cricket, and has become the brutal side in white ball cricket.
The likes of Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Liam Livingstone can be expected to have solid tournaments with the bat. Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Chris Woakes are a world-class all-rounder trio, and Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali can topple any batting order.
One cannot imagine that England won’t at least reach the semi-finals. But doing just so will be their worst-case scenario.

Australia
One can never fully count out Australia from a World Cup. Despite massive losses to South Africa and India recently, the Aussies found some form in the last ODI against India. Not only that, but Australia also looks arguably the strongest side in the tournament on paper.

Steve Smith and David Warner have bucket-loads of experience playing in India, with Mitch Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, and Travis Head blistering the batting in the top and middle overs. Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green provide solid all-round options. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell are different types of spinners, suitable for a tournament in India. Team captain Pat Cummins will join Josh Hazlewood and ‘World Cup specialist’ Mitchell Starc in a devastating pace lineup.
While Australia will almost definitely make at least the semi-finals, it is a possibility that they miss out on the knockouts if the tournament is truly a disastrous one for them.

The Outsiders
South Africa
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Predictions: South Africa seems to have found form at the most opportune time. Their recent ODI series against Australia showcased that the Proteas will be making a decent run in the World Cup. The only issue with the side is its composition, with the batting being incredibly top-heavy.
But that top-heavy batting gets the job done. Quinton de Kock is always a massive run-getter in India. While captain Tamba Bavuma, Heinrich Klaasen, and Rassie van der Dussen will provide crucial runs for the team. David Miller is one of the best middle-order batters in the world, while Marco Jansen provides lethal pace bowling and is a handy batting option. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi spin the balls opposite ways, and South Africa’s pace bowling, headed by Kagiso Rabada, is one of the strongest in the world.
South Africa will be making a solid run for the semi-finals and will be competing for that fourth spot in the knockouts. They even have an outside chance to win the whole thing. South Africa is one of three ‘50-50’ teams, which means it is equally likely that they won’t make the semi-finals at all.

Pakistan vs South Africa Dream11 Prediction CWC 2023
Pakistan
On paper, Pakistan looks like one of the strongest teams in the tournament. But their recent form might suggest that there are chinks in their otherwise impeccable armor.
Team captain and No.1 ICC ODI batter in the World Babar Azam will be supported by a solid batting lineup of Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Iftikhar Ahmed. Pakistan has always been dependent on its pace battery, and it will not be too different this time round. Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. are arguably the best pace attack in the World. Although, the team will miss Naseem Shah.

Another ‘50-50’ side, Pakistani fans will be expecting a World Cup win on the soil of their arch-rival. A semi-final spot is very realistic for this side. But in a tournament like the World Cup, it does not take long for everything to go wrong, especially for a side with a tendency to capitulate under pressure like Pakistan.

New Zealand
Despite several issues heading into the World Cup, New Zealand can always be expected to put on a good show at a World Cup.
Captain Kane Williamson will be returning from an ACL tear (probably too soon). Devon Conway, Tom Latham, and Glenn Phillips provide solid batting options. Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, and Mitchell Santner are world-class all-rounders. While Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee, Matt Henry, and especially Trent Boult have shown that they can devastate any batting order.
Despite being pummeled by England in a recent ODI series, New Zealand will still be in the hunt for a semi-final berth. After making two consecutive finals the previous two times, the team will be looking to do one better this time around. However, that seems like a step too far this year.

The Long Shots
Sri Lanka
To be fair, Sri Lanka lies somewhere between the teams who will definitely fight for the semi-final spots, and those with slim chances of doing so. The Lankan, after making it to the final of the Asia Cup, will be looking to exhibit the same form in the World Cup.
Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, and Sadeera Samarawickrama are their best batting options. Captain Dasun Shanaka, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Kusal Medis are strong middle-order batters who provide bowling too. Matheesha Pathirana, Lahiru Kumara, and Dilshan Madushanka provide decent pace bowling, with Maheesh Theekshana and youngster Dunith Wellalage overlooking the spin department.

The team will strongly miss their star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who is out of the World Cup with an injury. With that in mind, Sri Lanka still only needs two, maybe three wins over teams ‘better’ than them. After that, wins over teams ‘worse than them can open the gates of semi-finals for them, which is their best-case scenario. At worst, the Lankans will only win one game and will finish lower than the likes of Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Bangladesh
The absence of Tamim Iqbal will cost this team dearly. It is very difficult to see them do any better than a couple of wins in the World Cup. Their chances of making it to the semi-finals are almost nil. The best Bangladesh can hope for is a few scares here and there, and a constant slim hope of a miracle.
Captain Shakib Al Hasan, as always, will be the linchpin of the team. Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mehidy Hasan make up a solid batting order. The team has tons of spinning all-rounder, while Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed headline a decent pace attack.

Afghanistan
Much like Bangladesh, the best Afghanistan can hope for is a few wins here and there. Despite looking better on paper, Afghanistan has done nothing to show that they are better than the sum of its parts in recent times. The worst case, obviously, would be zero wins.
Star spinner Rashid Khan will be flanked by Mujeeb Ur Rehman and Noor Ahmad to make a deadly spin trio. Naveen Ul Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi are solid pace options. Batting will be led by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and anchored by the experienced duo of Mohammad Nabu and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi.

The Whipping Bags
The Netherlands
Everyone likes to root for the underdogs, and The Netherlands are by far the worst team in the tournament. So it feels bad to say this, but the Dutch will probably win no matches in the World Cup. They will not even take a peep at the semi-finals. The best they can do is a couple of wins in the tournament. Although, a team like The Netherlands sometimes make huge upsets in a World Cup setting, Like they did to South Africa in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Max O’Dowd, Vikramjeet Singh, and captain Scott Ewards are the team’s best pure batters. While Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, and Bas de Leede are top-quality all-rounders. A name to watch out for in this squad is Aryan Dutt, who will be the side’s leading spin bowler.
