Hybrid Model In IND v PAK Matches For 2026 T20 WC: A few days ago, news broke that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accepted a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy 2025, where India will play all their matches at a neutral venue. Today, ICC confirmed the use of this model. But this announcement came with a lot more meat on the bone.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to be played in Pakistan, but now, all of India’s matches, which might include a semi-final and the final as well, will be played at a neutral venue, most likely in the UAE.

But it was also announced that all India vs Pakistan matches till 202* will be played at neutral venues. Apart from CT 2025, this also includes the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Both of these events are to be hosted by India, but all of Pakistan’s matches will be played at a neutral venue.
In a statement released on December 19 about the hybrid model situation, ICC announced this:
“This will apply to the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan), set to be played in February and March 2025, as well as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India) and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka).”
But that is not all, as the ICC also announced that Pakistan will be hosting the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, which will also be subject to the hybrid model.

As for the upcoming Champions Trophy, it was also reported earlier that the PCB will not be compensated for losing a part of the tournament’s hosting rights and the revenue that comes with it.
In other news, the ICC also announced that Australia will host a major tournament from 2029 to 2031. These can range from the 2029 Champions Trophy, the 2030 Men’s T20 World Cup, the 2031 Men’s ODI World Cup, the 2029 Women’s ODI World Cup, or the 2030 Women’s T20 World Cup.
ICC finally summarised the statement about the Champions Trophy 2025 by naming all eight teams in the competition.
The schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be confirmed soon, with Pakistan aiming to defend the title they won in 2017. The eight-team event will feature Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa, alongside hosts Pakistan,” the statement said.
