But the interesting turnaround in the story happened when Gautam Gambhir was announced as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Many wonder how the two giants would co-work on the team. When Gambhir conducted his first press conference as India’s coach, this was one of the questions that was asked of him. He dealt with the question maturely.
“My relationship is not public. What kind of relationship do I share with Kohli? I think it’s between two mature individuals on the field. Everyone has got the right to fight for their own team for their own jersey and come back to a winning dressing room.”

As both Virat Kohli and Gambhir are working together for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris was asked how the great names will be working together. Styris thinks it’s just a matter of time before we will be able to see it.
“It think let’s wait and see. I don’t think anyone can say that it gonna work or it’s not gonna work. Both players will control their tongues while dealing with each other. In Virat’s case, he will closely monitor the coaching style of Gambhir. Gautam will be looking for Virat’s help in making the young players learn about the game,” Stryris told India Today.
“We don’t know much about their bond. They both are different but are terrific cricketers. They have got good cricket brains. I think they are smart enough to work out a way where they can get what they want as a player and coach,” he said.
