Highest Team Score in IPL History: We are into the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). A tournament that began with Brendon McCullum’s jaw-dropping 158* on the night of April 18, 2008, has only grown bigger and more lucrative with each passing year.

Runs and sixes galore in the IPL have attracted crowds in the stadiums and fans on their screens. The IPL, though, has not seen the run-scoring and six-hitting spree in its previous 16 editions as it has been the case in the IPL 2024 season so far. Among the biggest records broken this year has been the record for the highest team total in the IPL. 

As per Highest Team Score in IPL History, Heading into this IPL season, the highest team total was RCB’s 263 that they piled up against Pune Warriors India in 2013.

However, with the bat heavily dominating the ball, powered by the Impact Sub rule that allows teams to lengthen their batting order, which in turn emboldens the top-order batters to go harder, the highest team total record has already been broken three times this season.

Highest Team Score in IPL History

The Sunrisers Hyderabad hold the record for the highest team total in IPL history: SRH scored 287/3 against RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 15, 2024.

SRH opener Travis Head plundered a sensational century, scoring 102 runs in 41 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen, promoted to number 3, whacked 67 runs in 31 balls. The finish was provided by Aiden Markram (32 off 17) and Abdul Samad (37 off 10).

SRH broke their own record for the highest innings score from earlier this season, when, on March 24, they amassed 277 against Mumbai Indians at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad. In this game, once again, Travis Head made a cracking start with 62 (24) and it was followed by Abhishek Sharma’s 63 (23). Klaasen raced his way to 80* (34).

So SRH have the top two highest team totals in IPL history.

Between these two innings of SRH, KKR also broke RCB’s 263-run record by scoring 272/7 against Delhi Capitals in Vizag. 

RCB themselves came within touching distance of their own highest score of 263 when they replied with 262 to SRH’s 287.
