Harsha Bhogle On Jasprit Bumrah Playing 3rd Test: Reports have emerged that team India is planning to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the 3rd Test of the ongoing five-match series against England. Legendary commentator Harsha Vhogle has not given his two cents on the matter as to why dropping the pacer is not the best idea.
The reason given for Bumrah potentially being rest for the 3rd Test is workload management. The 30-year-old has battled long bouts against serious injuries in the past few years, being out of the national team for months on end. It took him months of recovery to get back into the Indian squad just in time for the 2023 Asia Cup and World Cup.
Since returning, Jasprit has shown why he is one of the best bowlers in the world. Nigh on unplayable on most days, the Mumbai Indians pacer knocks the stumps over for fun. His ability to place the ball at just the right spot and move it just enough for it to kiss the wickets is almost mind-boggling.

In the 2nd Test match against England, Bumrah was named the Player of the Match despite Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring his maiden double-ton. The award was given to him for the nine wickets he took in the match, which included a splendid six-wicket haul in the first innings.
Harsha Bhogle On Jasprit Bumrah Playing 3rd Test
Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in the Indian ranks at the moment, and Harsha Bhogle agrees. Bhogle, who has been closely watching the ongoing Test matches as one of the lead commentators for the official broadcaster, recently tweeted out why Bumrah should not be rested for the 3rd Test.
The upcoming Test match Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium (aka Khandheri Cricket Stadium). The stadium is considered a batter’s paradise, with the ball coming nicely onto the bat. Most bowlers find it difficult to provide any challenge to the batters.
Harsha Bhogle believes that resting your best bowler on a batting-friendly surface might spell disaster for Team India. In a recent tweet, he wrote –
“If India have to rest Bumrah, they must do so on a track where the other bowlers become more potent. On a good batting surface, his skills are impossible to replicate. Rajkot tends to be a good track and he will have rested for over a week. It might be a good idea to play him in Rajkot, rest him in Ranchi, and have him ready for Dharamshala.”
While Harsha Bhogle is reportedly out of the squad for the 3rd Test match, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are expected to be back in the playing 11 for the upcoming match. The two missed the 2nd Test due to injuries.
