Gilchrist Says Immense Pressure On Virat Kohli: Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist believes that Indian Cricket Team veteran batter Virat Kohli is under a lot of pressure in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India lost the IND vs AUS 4th Test and are trailing for 1-2. Alike the team it was a disappointing outing for Virat Kohli. In the first innings, he came in to bat after India lost their second wicket at 51. Then, he stitched together a 100-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, scoring 36 runs in it.

Things changed when Jaiswal got run out, just an over after which Kohli got out in a way he had done dozens of times in Test cricket, trying to play a ball in the line of the 5th/6th stump, edging it, and getting caught behind.
This came after, on the first day of this match, Virat (allegedly) instigated an incident with 19-year-old Australia debutant Sam Konstas as the two collided shoulder to shoulder. For this incident, the Indian was fined 20% of his match fee.
Then on the next day, after Kohli got out, he nearly got into a verbal altercation with a fan while returning to the pavilion.
Gilchrist Says Immense Pressure On Virat Kohli
All this suggests that Virat Kohli is under constant pressure due to his disappointing time playing in the white Indian jersey. This is something Adam Gilchrist believes as well. The record-breaking Australian keeper-batter recently spoke about Virat Kohli on Fox Cricket.
“He’s played such a vast amount of cricket … but he’s really got the microscope on him at the moment. It’s coming from all angles. The crowds are giving him a huge serve; he probably feels the media are giving him a huge serve as well. When he got out yesterday, he had a little reaction with someone in the crowd when he walked off. It’s hard to know what’s going on in his mind, but he’s still being challenged by all the aspects of being in the spotlight.”
In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy so far, Virat Kohli has scored 100, but his other scores have been 5, 7, 11, 3, and 36. In the last 18 months, he has only scored two centuries, the second one of which came against the West Indies in July 2023.
