Gavaskar blames Gill for T20WC Snub: India announced their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad yesterday, and the much-hyped Shubman Gill couldn’t make it to the main 15. The GT skipper will travel with the team as a reserve.
There have been mixed reactions coming out of this by fans and pundits alike. Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also commented on Gill’s absence from the squad.
Gavaskar opined that India is talent-studded, and this is one reason why a lot of talented players have to stay out.
“India is blessed with an abundance of talented cricketers. They have so much depth that even their second-string team could potentially win the World Cup with some luck. This creates a dilemma where accomplished players like Shubman Gill may miss out on selection despite their capabilities,” said Gavaskar.
Gavaskar blames Gill for T20WC Snub
Gavaskar didn’t ignore Gill’s terrible form lately. He thinks that Gil is responsible for GT’s recent losses in the IPL.
“I believe his current form was responsible for his exclusion. He has been inconsistent in the past several games. He had a great start. His varying performance in the past four games has cost the Gujarat Titans wins. Whenever he doesn’t fire, GT has lost,” opined Gavaskar.
