Former Pakistan Captain Disses National Team: Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif recently tore the Pakistan Cricket Team to shreds after the side’s poor performances across all formats over the last year.
The Men in Green have not found much success in the past 12 months. First, they failed to qualify for the Asia Cup final, then failed to make it to the semi-final of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Following the World Cup, the team changed captains. Now under Shan Masood, they lost 3-0 in the three-match Test series against Australia before losing a T20I series to New Zealand at home under Shaheen Afridi.
After Babar Azam was named the limited-overs captain once more, the team lost to the United States of America in the 2024 T20 World Cup and failed to make it out of the group stage. Now they have not only lost a Test against Bangladesh at home for the first time but have also been whitewashed by the Bangla Tigers 2-0.
Suffice it to say, the past year has been some of the worst time Pakistan cricket has had in recent history. Not only have they failed in two World Cups and countless bilateral series, but they have also not won a Test match since 2022.

Amidst all this, former national team captain and chief selector, Rashid Latif, has lambasted the team over their recent performances. He equated the team’s condition to an ICU patient in need of a doctor.
“Pakistan cricket is currently in the ICU. They will need a professional doctor. They need technically sound professionals to run things, both physically and financially. Trainers and many other things are required. You can see there are many problems, whether it’s on the field or off the field,” Rashid said in a video going viral on social media.
Pakistan Team has a lot of tough assignments in front of them. First, they will host England for a three-match Test series in October-November before travelling to Australia for three ODIs and T20Is. Limited Overs series against Zimbabwe and then against South Africa will round off their year.
While Pakistan is set to play in the Champions Trophy next year as the ost, they are currently eighth in the World Test Championship and are all but out of the race for the final next year.
