FIFA Will Host Under 17 World Cup Every Year: FIFA has announced that their biennial Under-17 World Cup will now be held annually from 2025.
The U-17 World Cup, which was held every two years before, will be held annually. The next five editions of the tournament starting from 2025 will be held in Qatar.
Formerly a 32-team tournament, the U-17 WC will now be expanded to 48 teams, just like its senior counterpart.

“This followed a global call for expressions of interest in hosting both competitions, with a focus on leveraging the use of existing footballing infrastructure in the interest of tournament efficiencies and sustainability,” announced FIFA in a press release on Thursday.

The last men’s U-17 FIFA World Cup was hosted by Indonesia in 2023 and saw Germany pick the trophy for the first time.
The same treatment will also be given to the women’s U-17 World Cup as well. The tournament will be held annually from 2024, with that particular edition taking place in the Dominican Republic.
The U-17 women’s World Cup will also be extended to 24 teams. The last edition in 2022, which was played in India, only had 16 teams.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino also revealed that a record $2.25 billion has been allocated for the 2023-2026 cycle for investment in football development around the world.
