Fans React To BCCI Central Contract List: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) released their list of centrally contracted players on Wednesday. These players are contracted by the BCCI on different levels based on how crucial of a role they play in the national side.
Upon the release of the list, fans noticed some interesting omissions from the list, while seeing some other players get premium contracts for playing much cricket recently.
The players in the A+ bracket are the most crucial players in the side across all formats, players with an ‘A’ contract too are very important and tend to play most matches. ‘B’ contract players are a regular part of the team but might be used in rotation, and a ‘C’ contract means a player is either on the fringes of the national team or is a rotation player in at least one format.
In the latest round of the announcement of the central contracts, fans noticed how Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not on the list, not even in the C category.
The omission of Kishan might be a little digestible. He has had a public falling out with team coach Rahul Dravid and the board. It looks like he is not a part of Team India’s plans in the near future.
The absence of Iyer, however, is a little more concerning. He was a regular part of the squad as recently as the 2nd Test vs England of the ongoing series. In the ODI World Cup in 2023, he scored over 500 runs and had a spectacular tournament. He has been a regular across all formats ever since his return from injury last year.
Another absurdity fans have pointed out is Hardik Pandya, who has been out with an injury since the World Cup last year, has been given an ‘A’ contract.

Pandya is currently training at the NCA and will most likely make his return during the upcoming IPL. Despite being absent from the national side for a few months now, Hardik is still one of the best all-rounders in the world and will be an essential part of the squad once he returns.
