Eric ten Hag Sacked by Manchester United: Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag has been sacked by the club following the continuous poor performance of the team. The decision came after Manchester United lost to West Ham in the recent English Premier League game. Ruud van Nistelrooy will take the helm as an interim manager until the club finds a permanent replacement.
Eric ten Hag Sacked by Manchester United
The club, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, issued an official statement saying:
“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited”.
Manchester United had lost their last match to Fulham 2-1. The English Giants have fallen into the 14th position on the Premier League table with just 3 wins from 9 games.
The Dutchman joined Manchester United in the 2022–23 season and won two domestic trophies: the EFL Cup in 2022–23 and the FA Cup in 2023–24. But apart from that, the team’s performance had dropped significantly, especially in the English Premier League, where the team finished 8th on the table last season with 60 points from 38 games.
Despite criticisms, United management backed their manager and even extended his contract which would have kept him in his job until June 2026. But back-to-back failures eventually made the board take the toughest decision of sacking him.
Manchester United Next Manager: Who Will It Be?
Former Barcelona manager Xavi has been linked with the club, but there are no official statements either from the club or the former Barcelona man yet.
