England Scores 304 Runs Against India 2nd ODI: The England Cricket Team scored 304 runs while batting first against India in the second of three ODIs despite facing a late-inning collapse.
The second India vs England ODI is being played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha, and the visitors win the toss for the second time in this series and choose to bat first on a fine batting surface.

For the Three Lions, it was the familiar opening duo of Phil Salt and Ben Duckett that took to the crease and owned the first 10 overs of the inning. Inside the powerplay, the two joined together and scored 75 runs without losing the wicket. While Duckett was the aggressor of the partnership, Salt played a supporting role.
However, soon after the powerplay, in fact, in the 11th over, Salt was the first wicket to fall when he was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy. Ben Duckett and Joe Root then took the English past the 100-run mark before the other opener, Bell, at the hands of Ravindra Jadeja after scoring 65 runs off 56 deliveries.
Then came a great partnership between Joe Root and Harry Brook of 66 runs. Surprisingly, it was Root who scored big runs at a quicker pace while Brook played the defensive anchor role. At the team score of 168 in the 30th over, Brook became Jadeja’s second victim of the day when he was dismissed for 31 off 52.
It was a day of long and stable partnerships for the England batting order, as Root now had a 50-run partnership with captain Jos Buttler, taking the team past 200 runs. By the time Buttler got out, he had scored 34 off 35 balls.

At 219/4 in the 39th over, Root and the incoming Liam Livingstone had to accelerate if they were to take the England Cricket Team past the 300-run mark. And that is exactly what he did. Joe Root scored some quick runs before getting out for 69 off 72. Then Liam Livingstone lit the crowd up with a couple of sixes as he scored 41 runs in 32 balls.
And while the lower order completely collapsed with Liam Livingstone on one end, all their contributions, especially Adil Rashid’s 14 off 5, were enough to take England to 304 runs before they were all out on the penultimate ball of the innings.
This batting performance is much better than what England did in the first game, where they failed to cross 250 runs on a similarly batting-friendly pitch. However, it seems that the Three Lions left a few runs on the table.
Winning this match and this series is equally important for both England and the Indian Cricket Team. As India won the first game, winning this one would mean a series win for them. And a series win so close to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be a major morale and form boost for both teams.
