Ellyse Perry hits car window: Australia and RCB star Ellyse Perry gave perhaps the most memorable moment of the two-season-old WPL history as she smashed a car window with a thunderous sixer and broke the glass in pieces. The reactions that followed from her teammates and herself have gone viral on social media.
This incident occurred during the match between RCB and UP Warriorz on Monday evening at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the game that RCB eventually won by a decent margin of 23 runs. This game was also the last of the Bangalore leg of the WPL 2024, and Ellyse Perry gave the most incredible moment possible to conclude the Chinnaswamy matches of the season.
On the 5th ball of the 19th over of RCB’s innings, Perry skipped down the pitch to a length delivery from off-spinner Deepti Sharma. The RCB batter got to the pitch of the ball and blasted it on the leg side, over wide long-on and mid-wicket regions.
The ball soared high in the sky and directly hit the side window of the car that is kept inside the stadiums in the IPL and WPL by the sponsors. The ball smashed into the window glass and broke into pieces.
Everyone realized it once it was shown on the giant screen, and the crowd let out a huge collective gasp. Perry’s RCB teammates were up on their feet; some were stunned while others laughed. Perry herself had a sheepish grin and cutely put her hand over her head in astonishment at breaking the glass.

It was a dominating performance from the RCB batters against UPW. Captain Smriti Mandhana scored 80 runs in 50 balls to set the tone in the first half of the innings before Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh monstered their way over the bowlers. Perry scored 58 runs in 37 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes, while Ghosh smoked 21* runs in 10 balls as RCB ended up with a huge total of 198, which proved 23 more than what UP could manage.
RCB now have 3 wins in 5 games and sit third in the points table.
