Eden Hazard retirement fan farewell messages: On Tuesday, October 10, former Chelsea and Real Madrid star Eden Hazard announced his retirement from football at the age of 32. The Belgian most recently parted ways with Los Blancos.
In a recent Instagram post, he outlined how and why he is stepping away from the sport after 16 years, he wrote –
“You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time. After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. I was able to realize my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world. Now is the time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences.”
One of the best players in the world during his time at Chelsea. Hazard’s move to Real Madrid was surrounded by much hype and excitement. But his stint at the Spanish giants was disappointing, to say the least. His four full seasons with the club saw him suffer multiple injuries. Whenever he did play, he wasn’t the player he was at Stamford Bridge.
In his 76 appearances for Real Madrid, Eden Hazard scored 7 and assisted 12 goals. But that does not change the impact he had on the world of football while playing for Chelsea or for Belgium. One of the greatest players in the history of the small European nation, Hazard is like a hero to the Belgian football fans. His antics at the 2018 World Cup brought his team to a third-place finish in the tournament.
