Delhi Capitals Escape With One Point Vs SRH: Match 55 of IPL 2025 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Capitals ended in a no result after rains in Hyderabad made playing the second inning impossible. And after what happened in the first inning, DC will feel lucky to escape this game with one point on the league table.
The SRH vs DC match was played in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The home side won the toss and decided to bowl first. While there was some movement in the pitch early in the proceedings, it was expected to be a batting-friendly track.

However, the Capitals’ inning started in the worst way possible. SRH captain Pat Cummins came in to bowl the first over of the match, and on his very first delivery, the Aussie dismissed Karun Nair for a golden duck as Nair edged the ball to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.
Faf du Plessis and the incoming Abhishek Porel then looked to stabilise the innings after an early shock. But then, in the third over of the inning, which was Cummins’ second over, Faf was caught behind for three and departed. And keeping the streak of taking a wicket on the first ball of his every over, Pat forced Porel to edge the ball and get caught behind in the fifth for eight runs.
When captain Axar Patel was dismissed by Harshal Patel in the sixth over, it was officially a disastrous powerplay for Delhi, as the score at the end of six overs was 26/5. But the nightmare did not stop here. KL Rahul was the fifth DC wicket to fall and the fourth to be caught behind. Rahul was dismissed for 10 runs in the eighth over by Jaydev Unadkat.
At this point, Tristan Stubbs took charge of taking DC to a respectable total. He, along with Vipraj Nigam, took the side past the 50-run mark and 10 overs. Then in the 13th over, Nigam got run out after a miscommunication with his batting partner, 62/6.
However, the upcoming partnership of Stubbs and Ashitosh Sharma ensured that Delhi would at least cross the score of 100 runs. While Tristan Stubbs played cautiously, looking to prevent wickets from falling, Ashutosh took a more attacking approach, hitting two 4s and three 6s in his innings.

By the time Sharma was dismissed two balls before the end of the inning, the score was 128/7. And a boundary on the final ball by Tristan took the score to 133/7 at the end of 20 overs. Stubbs and Ashutosh were the joint-highest scorers for DC with 41. But while the South African scored these runs in 36 deliveries at a strike rate of 113.89, Sharma scored them in 26 balls at a strike rate of 157.69.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins was the pick of the bowlers today. His four-over spell dished out the figures of 3/19 at an economy of 4.75. He, on his own, dismantled the DC top order.
Despite a strong finish to the inning, the Delhi Capitals were massive underdogs at the halfway mark. But who would have guessed that the match would never get to a conclusion? Even before a single ball was bowled in the SRH inning, rain started pouring and never stopped. In the end, the match was washed away and declared to have no result, with both teams leaving with one point on the points table.
This was a relief for the Capitals, who were in danger of falling out of the race to the playoffs. Now, with six wins, one washout, 11 points, and a positive net run rate in 11 games, DC is fifth in the league table in IPL 2025.
As for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, their race to the playoffs in IPL 2025 has come to an end. After tonight’s result, they have three wins, one no result, seven points, and the worst net run rate in the league in 11 games, putting them eighth on the points table.
