DC vs MI Match Highlights And Report-IPL: Less than 24 hours after PBKS recorded the highest successful T20 chase of 262 against KKR, Mumbai Indians threatened a similarly tall heist of Delhi Capitals’ total of 257 in Delhi. But Hardik Pandya’s team fell merely 10 runs short, prompting Pandya to say that the difference now in T20 cricket is “becoming a couple of balls” only.
Jake Fraser-McGurk played a blinder of 84 runs in 27 balls, a strike rate of 311, evoking memories of Suresh Raina’s 87 (25) from 2014.
None of MI’s top 8 batters batted at a strike rate of more than 250. But all of them either played considerably long, impactful knocks or got out cheaply within a few deliveries that allowed others to get time to make a difference. The game remained alive till the last few balls, with DC prevailing in the end.
DC vs MI Match Highlights And Report-IPL
Hardik won the toss and elected to bowl first. Without wasting a single delivery, Fraser-McGurk got in the act from the first ball as he started the innings with 4,4,6,0,4,1 against Luke Wood. Even the godly Jasprit Bumrah had a false start: he bowled a no-ball that was smashed for a six and the free-hit went for a four, before conceding another boundary. Bumrah leaked 18 runs in his first over, but he was brilliant in his rest three as he conceded only 17 more runs.
The other MI bowlers were under the pump. Hardik’s two overs went for 41, Nuwan Thusara went for 18 in his first over, and Chawla for 14. After 7 overs, DC were 113/0 before Fraser-McGurk was finally dismissed by Chawla for 84 (27).
At the other end, though, Abishek Porel, who replaced Shaw as an opener, was miles behind Fraser-McGurk. The young Indian left-hander managed 36 (27), an innings that could have been a match-losing one.
Shai Hope smoked five sixes in his 17-ball 41, and Rishabh Pant cracked two fours and two sixes in his 19-ball 29. The finish was provided by Tristan Stubbs, the young South African who is a former MI player walloped 48* in 25 balls.

Hardik brought his best with the bat today but couldn’t go beyond 46 (24). Rasikh Salam, another former MI player, dismissed Hardik and Wadhera in a single over.
Somehow, Mumbai still had hope, revived by Tilak and Tim David’s partnership of 70 (29). It came to needing to 64 off 18, and Mukesh got bashed for 23 runs but got David’s wicket (37 off 17). With 41 off 12 required, Rasikh conceded 16.
However, Tilak got run out on the first ball of the last over when trying to come back for a second to retain the strike; the left-hander scored 63 (32). Chawla and Luke Wood hit a couple of boundaries to bring down the margin of loss to 10 runs.
Score summary: Delhi Capitals 257/4 in 20 overs (Jake Fraser-McGurk 84, Jasprit Bumrah 1/35); Mumbai Indians 247/9 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 63, Rasikh Dar Salam 3/34). DC defeated MI by 10 runs.
