Daryl Mitchell And Dawid Malan Join PSL Draft: New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell and explosive English batter Dawid Malan have joined the PSL 2025 draft and will be among the biggest foreign attractions in the league for the upcoming season.
The Pakistan Super League, unlike the IPL, hosts a draft, not an auction, for the teams to bring in the players into their squad, wherein teams draft players from different categories, which have certain salary caps.

While the draft will take place on January 11, registration for the draft is currently underway. Each team could retain up to eight players, can use a right-to-match card for one player, and will have one wild card pick.
Mitchell is one of the best all-format all-rounders in world cricket. He has a lot of T20 experience. Having played 212 T20s, he has scored 4605 runs in those at an average of over 31 and a strike rate of over 135. He also has 77 wickets in the format with a sub-25 average.
In formats like ODIs and Tests, his feats are much more impressive, like his brilliant Test series against India earlier this year or scoring a ton in the semi-final of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
As for Dawid Malan, he is among the most prominent franchise cricketers in the world. In his massive career of 352 T20s and over 100 appearances for England across all formats, Malan has scored 9609 runs in the shortest format of the game with an average of 32.79 and a strike rate of almost 130.

These two men will join the likes of Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, England’s Tom Curran, and Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman as the most notable foreign players to have signed up for the draft.
The PSL 2025 draft will take place on January 11 in Gwadar, Balochistan. The season is scheduled for April-May of next year, right alongside the IPL. This will not only mean that there will be no significant international competition around the time of the PSL, but it also means that many foreign players who were not bought in the IPL auction will be busy at that time of the year.
The reason for the delay in the PSL 2025 season, which would have otherwise taken place in February-March, is that Pakistan will host their first ICC competition in 29 years, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, at that time.
