CSK and MS Dhoni record at Chinnaswamy: It’s time for the most-awaited clash of the last round of matches of the league phase in IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings. The match will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
This is a virtual knockout game, with both teams vying for the one remaining spot in the playoffs. RCB have 12 points; CSK have 14. The equation is straightforward for both teams to qualify for the playoffs. RCB need to win by a margin where their net run rate goes above CSK’s. If CSK win the match, they will be through, and even if they lose the match, they need to ensure that the margin of loss isn’t enough for RCB’s NRR to pip them over.
A complication for RCB has been added with the predicted rain. Thunderstorms and rain are forecasted for Saturday evening in Bangalore. If the match is washed out, then CSK will go through.
CSK and MS Dhoni record at Chinnaswamy:
In IPL history, CSK and RCB have contested 10 times at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. In these 10 encounters, the hosts won 5 times, the visitors won 4 times, and one match was a washout.
Former CSK skipper MS Dhoni has a fantastic record at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Dhoni has played some of his best IPL knocks in Bangalore. In 11 innings at the Chinnaswamy, Dhoni has amassed 464 runs at an average of 92, which is boosted by his remaining not-out six times. He’s scored these runs at a terrific strike rate of 180, walloping five fifties in the process.
This match could very well be Dhoni’s last match at the Chinnaswamy and in the IPL.
Dhoni will turn 43 in July. He’s been dealing with a knee injury, for which he underwent surgery, since last season. The biggest indicator that perhaps the Ranchi-born has pondered strongly over hanging up his boots was that he handed over the captaincy duties to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of the season, despite leading CSK to a title last year.
RCB and Virat Kohli, on the other hand, dream of continuing their stunning turnaround this season. RCB lost seven out of their first eight matches before going on a five-match winning streak and are not within one shot of the playoffs.
