Cristiano Ronaldo Under Investigation For Gesture: Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly under investigation for allegedly making obscene gestures towards rival fans while playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo, who is currently the highest goal scorer in the Saudi Pro League with 22 goals in 20 games, was part of Al-Nassr’s recent contest against Al-Shabab. While Ronaldo’s team won the match 3-2, and he even opened the scoring for his team with a first-half penalty, it was not the win that made the headlines following the contest.

During the match on Sunday, February 25, Al-Shabab fans were trying to tease Cristiano with “Messi” chants. Argentine legend Lionel Messi has been a longstanding rival for Cristiano Ronaldo. These two players are not only the greatest players of their own generation, but also in the conversation of the greatest of all time.

Ronaldo, seemingly bothered by the chants for his career rival, cupped his ears and then repeatedly thrust his hands towards his pelvis. While this was not captured by television cameras, fans did capture the moment and posted it on social media.

The 39-year-old has been heavily criticized across the board. The local media are also reporting that the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has opened an investigation into the incident.
If found guilty of any offense, Cristiano Ronaldo could face suspension for a number of matches. Al-Nassr’s next match is on February 29 against Al-Hazm.
Currently, in second place behind Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, Al-Nassr is seven points behind the first-placed side in the league. They also made it to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League after defeating Al Feiha 3-0 on aggregate across two legs.
