Cristiano Ronaldo, in his latest discussion on his YouTube channel ‘UR Cristiano’, revealed the reason behind his tears at the Euro 2024. Ronaldo had missed a crucial penalty in the Euros, and the star broke down into tears after that, and the teammates had to console him.
The Portuguese, though, had stepped up later in the match to score the first penalty in the shootout to win the match for his team.
The Reason Behind the Tears of Cristiano Ronaldo
In the discussion, Rio Ferdinand asked CR7 the reason behind the tears. Ronaldo answered that, with his family and friends present there, he couldn’t control his emotions. It was also part of the pressure that he has been putting on himself since he was 11.
The tears, he said, were the result of the pressure he has put on himself since he was 11 years old.
“When you have passion for what you’re doing, you cannot be worried about how you’re feeling. I failed because I’ve made pressure for myself since I was 11 years old. ‘Cristiano, you are the best player in the world,’ I’m always thinking in that way.
“But when I missed the penalty, I felt bad with myself, the fans, and my family, not because of other stuff that people say.”
Cristiano Ronaldo Hints Retirement
When he was asked about his retirement, Ronaldo said that he still has time for it, and he is enjoying every moment of it currently. Once he feels like he isn’t productive enough, he will walk away, as per Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I don’t know when I’m going to finish,” he said. “Since you play more, you learn many, many things. One thing that I’ve learned is, enjoy the moment. Because you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. I know I’m still looking good. The day that I start to feel I don’t produce nothing, listen, I’ll pack my bags and I’ll go away. But it’s far from that.”
