Cricketers Slam Pakistan for Dropping Babar Azam: Michael Vaughan and Fakhar Zaman slammed Pakistan Cricket for dropping ‘the best player in’ Babar Azam from the second Test against England. The decision came after the hosts’ shambolic innings defeat to the visitors in the first Test.
Despite building a huge first-innings score of 556 runs in the first innings, the Asian side failed to bundle down the English batters as they went on to score 823 runs.
In the second innings, Pak betters fumbled down at 220, leading to a defeat by an innings and 47 runs.

Babar Azam’s contribution had little contribution to the team scoring 30 and 5 in the first and second innings respectively. This led to his exclusion from the playing XI for the second Test, which is starting on October 15 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
This made Vaughan furious as the cricketer went on ranting on X, calling the decision ‘Stupid’
“So Pakistan haven’t won in a while .. Go 1 nil down in the series and decide to drop the best player in @babarazam258.. I guess Pakistan cricket is full of surprises but this tops the lot .. absolutely stupid decision .. unless he has asked for a break,” he wrote on X.
Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman also questioned the decision of the management to not back the str player. Zaman also mentioned India backing Virat Kohli despite having a below-par average in the Red Ball cricket between 2020 and 2023.
“It’s concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn’t bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023, when he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively. If we are considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team. There is still time to avoid pressing the panic button; we should focus on safeguarding our key players rather than undermining them,” Zaman wrote.
