Cricketers Bash Rishabh Pant After the DC Loss: Ex-cricketers and commentators took it to LSG skipper Rishabh Pant after the star’s lackluster performance against his former team, Delhi Capitals. Pant went out for a duck in the two times he faced DC this season.
Pant has been a total failure after signing for LSG, with the keeper-batter scoring only 106 runs from 9 games, making his average score per inning just 13.25
Yesterday, when LSG met DC, Pant decided to go down in the batting order and came on 7th only to get his stump rocked by Mukesh Kumar in the very first ball.
After the match, former cricketers lashed out at Pant and LSG’s decisions that resulted in their fourth loss of the season.

Former India cricketer and commentator Ambati Rayudu said that Pant ‘He cannot give any more excuses.’
“I feel Pant really needs to take the onus on himself,” said Raudu on the Match Centre. “He really needs to take the decisions on his own. You want everything to be said indoors. And also you don’t want any dirty laundry to be washed outside. Pant really needs to take the control of the decisions that are being made at LSG.”
Rayudu also thinks that Pant going down in the batting order to bat at 7 is not a good decision.
“He needs to come up the order. He cannot give any more excuses. He is the captain. And it is a captain’s sport. We all acknowledge that. Going forward, they need to make a few changes: maybe get Mayank Yadav in. Also, Rishabh Pant has to be batting slightly higher,” Rayudu added.
Aakash Chopra also blasted Pant for going to bat later than his usual No. 5 position.
“Rishabh Pant came to bat for only two balls. What are you doing? If you have blisters on your hand, say that, and if not, come to bat. We saw something tied on his hand during the toss, and I got news that he has blisters on his hand, and that’s probably the reason. However, if you are playing and eventually go to bat, you should have gone to bat earlier,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Chopra also raised concern that Pant hasn’t been able to open his account against his former club this season.
“It’s the team he (Pant) used to captain earlier, and was playing against them now. The interesting thing is that he scored zero in the last match and zero in this match also. Rishabh Pant hasn’t yet opened his account against Delhi. He was good for Delhi, and the job hasn’t happened properly since he left Delhi,” he observed.
Chopra also pointed ou at a potential drift in the LSG changing room.
“Why didn’t you come to bat? In fact, Deep Dasgupta even asked him why he didn’t go. He said it was the team’s plan, and they sent (Abdul) Samad and then (David) Miller, and it didn’t work out well. I am not a body language reader. I don’t know whose decision it was. From a distance, as I don’t have any inside information, it felt that things are not right,” Chopra elaborated.
Former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara brutally trolled Rishabh PAnt for trying to be MS Dhoni.
“I genuinely don’t know what the thought process was. There’s no doubt he should be batting up the order. He’s trying to do what MS Dhoni does, but he’s nowhere near [Dhoni’s age]. I still feel he’s someone who should be batting in the middle overs, between [overs] six and 15. He’s not a finisher, and he shouldn’t be doing the job of a finisher.”
Ex-England opener Nick Knight believes that Pant didn’t take the responsibility when the team needed him the most
“When you look at the decision-making, perhaps in rationale, it makes some sense. What I don’t like is it just doesn’t look very good. There is your captain, sliding, going backwards in the batting order when you really need him to step up. He’s the one who’s going to be standing up and talking in front of your team, he’s the one who’s leading you out there. He’s your leader, and it just doesn’t look great when the leader is going the other way. From that perspective, that’s my problem, because I would agree – Badoni is probably more likely to score runs, etc, etc. It doesn’t look right.”
The LSG captain, though, explained why he didn’t come earlier in the match.
“Idea was to capitalize on wicket like that, after that Miller came in and we were stuck too, we need to figure these things, try to find best combination going forward. We haven’t thought about as of now, we need to regroup, just got to play the next game fresh.” Pant told the broadcasters after the match,” Pant said.
