Cost of every Ball Mitchell Starc Bowls in IPL: The IPL 2024 is set for the grand return of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who is set to make his comeback in the league after 2015. It was the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who swooped in Mitchell Starc for a sky-high price of INR 24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction in December in Dubai.
Gautam Gambhir, who returns to KKR in the form of a mentor, was adamant on getting the services of the lanky Australian left-arm speedster and managed to stave off competition from the Gujarat Titans at the auction table, though it needed him to shell out INR 24.75 crore from KKR’s purse.
This bid meant that Starc became the most expensive player in IPL history, beating his Aussie captain Pat Cummins’ price of INR 20.5 crore from the same auction.
Starc, 34, has played two seasons in his IPL career, in 2014 and 2015 for RCB, when he took 34 wickets. He has since been away from the league due to various reasons: injuries, workload management, prioritizing rest for international duties, and personal reasons.
He did, however, appear in the IPL 2018 auction, and then, too, KKR bought him for INR 9.4 crore, but he missed the season because of an injury. This time, he is well and truly back and ready to fire.

Assuming that Mitchell Starc plays in all 14 league matches and gets to bowl his maximum quota of four overs in each game, then his single legal delivery will be worth INR 7.3 lakhs!
Gautam Gambir, the KKR ownership and management, and their fans would be hoping that Starc is fit for all 14 league matches, which will automatically boost their chances of finishing in the top four. KKR has made it into only one playoff in the last five seasons; they lost the final in the IPL 2021 to CSK.
Gambhir sees Starc as KKR’s X-factor in IPL 2024 and expects the Aussie star to bring his international success over the years to the IPL.
