WWE Superstar CM Punk recently teased a match with The Rock at Wrestlemania 41 in 2025, challenging the Hollywood star for a dream match.
After about 10 years away from the company, Punk made his return to WWE at the end of Survivor Series 2023. This came after his two-year stint in All Elite Wrestling – where he became the promotion’s biggest star, won the world title, and got suspended after brawling with the EVPs before getting fired for a backstage fight with Jack Perry.
After the ‘Voice of the Voiceless made his WWE return, he participated in the 2024 Royal Rumble, finishing second and injuring his shoulder in the process. Despite not being cleared to wrestle, he remained part of several storylines. In his first one-on-one TV match in the company in over 10 years, the former WWE Champion took on and lost to Drew McIntyre.
With current ongoing feuds with McIntyre and Seth Rollins, one would believe that CM Punk would face either one of them in what will be a big money match at next year’s WrestleMania. But the 45-year-old has now thrown teased another massive match.
Dwayne Johnson, who has not been a full-time WWE wrestler since 2003, returned for what was his first extended TV run since 2013 this year for a main event program leading up to WrestleMania 40. The man called The Rock returned on the January 1 episode of RAW to tease a match with the then Undisputed WWE Universal Champion of three years, Roman Reigns. The two then finalised a match before Cody Rhodes interfered. The People Champion teamed up with Reigns to take on Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event of Night 1 of ‘Mania 40.
But it is not over yet for The Rock. A member of WWE’s parent company TKO’s board, the 52-year-old will likely be a part of The Bloodline storyline leading into next year’s Showcase of the Immortals. He might take on Cody Rhodes, or Roman Reigns, or team up with some members of The Bloodline next year. Whatever it is, he will likely wrestle at WrestleMania 41.
CM Punk Teases Match With The Rock At WrestleMania
However, CM Punk has now challenged The Rock for a match at next year’s ‘Mania, which will take place at the Allegiant Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
The two have already wrestled once before. When Punk was the WWE Champion a decade ago, The Rock challenged and defeated him for the title at Royal Rumble 2013.
Last night, he appeared on Fanatics Fest NYC Live along with dozens of WWE Superstars. He had a panel event with former Tyler Breeze and former WWE Champion Big E. During the show, E asked Punk a question about who he wanted to face at WrestleMania 41, to which he name-dropped The Rock and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
“Sign me up, yeah. They were just asking me about Steve Austin over there. You know, WrestleMania is two nights. Give me Steve one night, give me Rock night two. I don’t care. Let’s go. Let’s do it,” said Punk.
While The Brahma Bull made his wrestling return this year, Steve Austin wrestled his first wrestling match in 19 years at WrestleMania 38 in 2022. During the show, he also teased a future match with Dominik Mysterio, who might be the detestable heel in WWE at the moment.
With that being said, as stated before, Punk is on a trajectory for a massive match against Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, or both at WrestleMania 41, provided he can stay fit for the next 7-8 months.
